LE BOIS WAGON MASTER

Next

This re-creation of a wagon train descending into Boise Valley off the rim is reminiscent of those trains that formed a continuous flow of immigrants seeking a new life in the West.

From about 1840 the nunbers ran into the thousands and abated only after a railroad into Boise, Idaho was completed in 1884.

An Idaho State historical marker just east of Boise on Barber Road identifies the wagon road still in evidence at that site. Wagon tracks can still be found that trace this segment of the Oregon Trail for many miles out in the desert, east of Boise.
